That's the end of the excitement for the Phils, except for the first baseman just out of high school that projects out to being a mid level DH in 5-6 years that they will get for Michael Young.
Peavy to Red Sox, Iglesias to Tigers, Garcia to White Sox...I am not sure this is a good deal for the Red Sox, a guy who gets injured a lot and a big price tag on his salary...
The Sox didn't give up much and it is undetermined what they got in return. Is Peavy any better that what was already on their rotation? You can not say "yes" at this point.
Right now it seems like Clay Buchhols might be back to get 4 or 5 starts in before the playoffs. But, he might also be shut down at some point, because Buchholz can't be counted on, at all.
The Sox rotaion consist of
Lackey, who has pitched surprisingly well.
Lester and Dempster, which are about the same at this point.
Doubront, who could be argued has been pitching better than he should be.
Workman, a rookie on a innings limit.
Pretty much a bunch of #3 pitchers and Lackey. And they just added another #3. So, what did this give them other than depth and $20 million in salary?
Peavy is just a step above mediocre. The Red Sox got housed on this one. Once again, a team counting on prospects when that is all they are; prospects. Lee would have given them the division and probably the WS.
Peavy, here comes Baltimore.
Yeah, isn't Peavy another one of those guys that had his best years pitching in SD? He's a solid pitcher but it seems like he's going to get killed by the long ball in Boston.
