More information coming soon.

Weird that he would announce it on this day of all days.

He's been declining for years. Who the hell goes 6+ years without winning a Cup?! Lame. Borderline HOF'er in my books.

Seriously ? Has this been confirmed ? That would suck. I figured he had at least 2-3 more good years left.

EDIT - April Fool, right ? Screw you guys.

When The Datsyuk retires it is going to be a dark day for me.

He is my favourite player. I even hold in in higher regard than I do The Subban.

Interesting, is his retirement going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back and ends the era of consistent good play by Detroit?

detroit is so good at identifying, and sitting on young talent.

from that 98 draft, top 3 scorers:

1st overall vinny lecavalier (929 pts)
64th overall, brad richards (903 pts)
171st overall, pavel datsyuk (864 pts)

Exactly. You feel nekkid driving around here in the summer without a Vette.

Last time I went through, a guy had parked his Porsche 928 across two spots outside the entrance to the museum. It didn't stay there long, but I thought...

Yeah, stick it to 'em my German brother!

OK you made me look it up.

What do: Jiri Fischer, Ryan Barnes, Tomek Valtonen, Jake McCracken, Brent Hobday, Carl Steen, and Adam DeLeeuw all have in common?

Besides a grand total of 11 goals in the NHL, they were all drafted by Detroit before Datsyuk in 1998.

You throw enough spaghetti at the wall, something will stick. Eventually.
