So, lessons learned. 1 - Boyce and Thompkins aren't really ready yet. 2 - Edelman, Amendola and Vereen are good football players. 3 - Their defense is good enough to singlehandedly keep them in a game like this, which is something at least.

That was a ugly ass win for the Pats.

I'll take the W and the learning points for the young guys. The defense was fairly solid and with Gronk back (and I'm still expecting Dobson to make an impact) combined with the young guys learning Brady's rhythm a bit better, this team can get there. Like I said, they have a ways to go still.

Pats' defense was going up against a rookie QB, 1 decent receiver and 1.5 decent running backs. I wouldn't give out too many kudos just yet. Secondary still looks like a problem.

Ugly win. Bills defense made the mistakes that cost them the game. They deserved to win. The patriots had no pressure on the QB today and the Bills took advanatge. Sloppy very very on offense by the Pats today. I'll take the but still.

And the Buccs just won the game for the Jets with that STUPID penalty there... WHY shove him there?

I am not arguing that this performance proves they've got an elite defense, or even a very good one. But their defense 2 years ago wouldn't have kept them in this game, rookie QB or no.

That was an ugly win, and all sorts of warning bells are going off. Those rookie receivers did NOT look up to the task.

Game one and you don't know who you beat.

The Bills could be an above .500 team and a playoff contender. It's week one and they have a new QB and a really good backfield. Woods and Johnson make a solid receiving group.

So before the assignment of beliefs I would watch the Bills for a few weeks. Their d-coordinator has had a lot of success in the past in game planning for the Pats and Brady, and they may be a heeluva lot better than people suspect.
