Draft Crazy and I were going back and forth this afternoon about this game. I'm pulling for the Pats.

(Excuse me while I pull over and puke out the window.)

DC is cheering on the Jets.

My rationale - if the Jets win and we lose on Monday night, we no longer control our destiny.

He really hates the Steelers and wants the Jets to win so that if we win out, and so do the Jets and KC, the Steelers are frozen out. You know, I've always believed hate is bad for your health! ;) (Actually I believe it's the Jets who would be out of the playoffs in this scenario. It just made a better story.)

So who do you agree with? That Draft Crazy who is Season Idiot or me? :dhd:

If the Jets lose, it certainly gives the Broncos some breathing room. Right now if the Chiefs, Steelers, Jets and Broncos all finish 11-5 the Broncos are out.

I am pulling for the Broncos to win, obviously. 12-4 is still reachable until the "L" column says "5."

Instead of the Jets losing, I'm pulling for upsets by the Ravens and Browns over the Steelers and Chiefs respectively. In the unlikely scenario that the Pats drop both the Jets and Dolphins games and the Broncos win out, the Broncos are the #1 seed. Highly unlikely, but possible until it's not. So for that scenario to last another week the Broncos need to win and they need the Jets to win.

The Broncos get just as much breathing room from a Steelers or Chiefs loss. Plus what I'm really hoping is the Jets and Steelers finish 11-5 and the Chiefs 10-6 leaving them out of the playoffs AND out of a primo draft position.

Gotta go big!

Gotta get your rosary out and hope Patriots lose last two games and we win last two games. :)

Plus I would rather see the Jets in then the Steelers who is the last team I want to see in the playoffs right now.

If Denver can't win to get in then they just don't deserve to be there.

Yeah it`s a catch 22 but since I picked Jets to upset I`am sticking to it!. Actually SS, I`am at the point where I want to see what this team is really made of and I don`t care how rough the road is. If they have the heart and desire, they will find a way no matter what. If they don`t, they can just as easily lay and egg with a bye wk just as easily as they could on the rd wk 1. As far as I`am concerned, you either take care of business this wk and next and if you don`t....then you`ve made your bed and you live with it. I hope they want the SB bad enough and will show it with their play from here on out. :)

I'm still shellshocked over what happened in Pittsburgh. They looked SO great in the 1st half. I was convinced that we had the game in the bag. It makes me SICK that they blew that, and I must admit that I now have an uneasy feeling. After watching that blown game, I'm concerned that they might blow a playoff spot completely. Which would be a complete and utter disaster after being 10-2!

So you'd think I'd be rooting for the Jets to lose, to help wildcard hopes if they lose to Cincinnati. But NO. This team doesn't deserve the playoffs if they don't beat the Bengals! After the DEBACLES of the last 2 weeks, they NEED to go out and play a great game. There's no excuse for not beating a Bengals team that doesn't have Dalton.

I don't want a wildcard after a 10-2 start. There's a very clear path to the #2 seed. Just have to beat the Bengals. Get it done! No excuse to not have a 1st round bye after starting 10-2!

I think that the Jets will win, but I don't know who to root for now. I want to see NE lose, but Denver can't get home field now unless they win out AND Cincy and NE lose out (NE might lose to the Jets and Fins, but Cincy isn't losing at home to Baltimore in Week 17).

If we defeat Cincy and SD, we get #2 seed. (Unless of course NE loses out - and that ain't happening.)

As a Pats fans, I want to see the Patriots win. But....I'm also a realist and history has shown me that the Jets can be a miserable matchup for the Patriots regardless of their record or injuries. Word leaking out all over is that Edelman may play and Gronk is playing. Amendola is out. Hankerson and LaFell will be the wide outs. I'm not 100% convinced that the Patriots will pull this one out of the fire. Again, I'd like to see them win it and start Garappolo against the Fish.

I want the pats to lose.

1) I don't like the pats, they need a humbling. On top of that their fans can be D-bags

2) Most importantly, if the broncos cannot handle their own business to get into the playoffs and need someone else to let them in then they really don't belong. Especially since they would be/are in a tailspin.

I do not share this sentiment at all. Just get in the tournment some way some how.

The last point is only shared by fans . If that sentiment was shared by NFL Players, Denver in 2011 would not have had one of the most memorable playoff wins in Broncos history, 2012 Ravens would not have won the Super Bowl and well as 2010 Green Bay Packers.

The team wins in Pittsburgh last week if the two safeties are healthy because Denver would not have played that type of defense and leave the two corners on an island all game due to 2 street FA (who just 3 weeks ago were probably selling cell phones at the Aurora mall).

Get CJ, and the two safeties healthy for the playoffs and I don;t care how we get in, I like Denver's chances in the AFC

I'll be cheering for the Pats. As much as that sucks to actually say logically it makes sense. The odds of them losing their final 2 games and us getting the #1 seed are very slim. Right now just getting into the playoffs to me is the most important part. We have shown even with a very banged up team against the Steelers on the road that we can compete with anybody. A couple things go our way these last 2 weeks and we are easily in the drivers seat. So again just wanting to get in the playoffs even if that is as a wild card team and just see what this team can do.

I pretty much agree with this. If we don't beat Cincinnati and SD, then it's hard for me to feel too good about sneaking into the playoffs. No real reason to think we would likely win a playoff game or three if we can't close out the season with two home wins.

especially considering there is a chance that BOTH Amendola and Gronk are out. Plus it is in New York which the Patriots have been susceptible on the road this year. I am looking for Hankerson to have a game however. I just see a let down defensively by the Patriots this weekend, hope I am wrong. But yes I also don't want anything to do with the Steelers right now.

7 of the past 10 Super Bowl Champions have lost at least 2 games in the month of December.

Yeah, maybe they back their way in and end up winning it all. I don't see it, but I have been wrong before.

I do think many times it is the teams that back their way in that have nothing to lose so they can play loose and just see what happens. Players also talk about how much a loss can really mean in the idea of a team is more willing to look at their mistakes after a loss than after a win. Such as for the Broncos my guess is they are working very hard to fix this whole 2nd half collapse they have experienced the last 2 weeks. My guess is Kubiak is working on trying to have a completely different set of plays to come out in the 2nd half with different formations making teams have to adjust to them instead of our offense staying the same and adjusting to the adjustments that the other team made.

Definitely need to fix the second half issues. Not going to win many games getting shut out in the second half.

Like I say, I might be wrong, but the team has just not played the caliber of ball the past two weeks that I think is likely to win a playoff game. I definitely like our chances better if we are able to win our last two games at home.

I guess to me I have seen too many teams go into the playoffs with their fans even saying they have no chance to then emerge in victory. Heck the Giants have done it twice in the past 10 years. The Ravens in 2012. The Packers were one of the most banged up teams to ever win a Super Bowl in the 2010 season.

I mean look at our team right now. We have been without Anderson or at least the healthy version for most of this season, Ward and Stewart both missed this past week, Ware has been out and is just now starting to get back into being a full time starter. The OL has been banged up like crazy. So let's say we find a way to win these last 2 games and get that bye week and get these guys healthy for the playoffs. We are a very different team with all those guys healthy. Heck even if we don't get the bye week but say they get a week or two off here to close out the season then are ready for the playoffs. Again we become a different team. I still like the fact that we have a top notch defense (had a bad week last week) and the offense has shown some flashes of brilliance.
