Related note: Is this a sign that maybe Gronk isn't ready? I was thinking he was going to be 100% for week 1. Any Pats fans know what the deal is? Yes,,,this is a fantasy question...

Nothing to do with Gronk. This is a move to
a. relieve cap space
b. get a move TE.
c. get rid of an aging player before he gets too old.

They get salary cap relief, a quality TE and a pick. Good deal for an over paid declining player.

The start of a decline but I thought he was still very good and was a very big aggressive influence for the rest of the Oline. You want mean SOBs like Mankins on your team.

So I have mixed feelings about it. I think the Oline isn't as good today as it was Sunday. I'd feel better if Scarnaccia was still there but hopefully the rest of the line can pick up the slack.

I am real curious to see Wright in action. He could be the mini-Hernandez next to Gronk.

After winning SB 38, The Pats missed the playoffs. When asked about it, Bill said" I made the mistake of letting some players get too old' I'll never do that again" Last week the rookies blocked better than Mankins. This was about the decline.....
......and you're saying Seymour was in ''decline'' when he first started playing with the raiders,...it was mostly all about the ''Benjamin$''......[for mankins/Seymour/milloy/mo$$].

I think their intent is for Wright to be a mini-Hernandez. If the guy could catch 56 passes in TB, imagine what he could do having Brady throw him the ball.

Mini Hernandez that is 3 inches taller. Yeah I could see him grabbing 80 passes with TB. Its great to have a 6'4 option along with Gronk 6'5. The only thing that bothers me is that BB has an obsession with Rutgers players. I know his son played for Schiano but this is like his 8 player from there last few years, not a powerhouse

oh-boy,......did gizzelle ~tweet~ it for him...?,.....I like brady but he's too much of a ''company-man'', and he still runs the opposite-way when B.B. comes down the hallway,....*kinda like jack lemmon/ensign pulver/mr. roberts*.

MM I loved watching you as a kid on the Flying Nun. You used to get on Sally Fields butt all the time, kind of like a BB

Some additional background I just heard on the radio. Apparently Patriots management met with Mankin's representatives before yesterday to renegotiate his contract...

mmmm. Follow the money.

Was talking about the Rutgers thing with a friend earlier. Most haven't been all that successful.

Nope and hope it ends. If we were talking an SEC or say Big 10 team but Rutgers?
