Cooper was the guy I really wanted.

I know we are up against the cap, but Clabo might have been the missing piece. Parnell isn't ready

I think We a loved Cooper Twisted but he was gone before we had a shot at him. Hind sight being 20/20 I'm Glad we got Freddrick, but at the time when Coop and Vacaro were gone I wanted Elam.

Guessing game yes. But I don't think anyone was taking him. I read of one team that apparently had him ranked in that range, but never saw anyone say they would take him. I'm sure it was written somewhere, but who other than Jerry would actually say that? How does it make their guy feel? Sounds like someone making assumptions or Jerry starting rumors so that people would stop laughing at how badly SF bent him over...

during the drat it was being said that the Pats, the Lions & another team were being rumored to taking him next. All three were are the front of the 2nd round. As much as people want to hang on every word Kiper says. I don't think Fredericks gets past the top 5 picks of the 2nd round. Definitely don't think he would be there when we get to our pick in the 2nd rd. & as it has been pointed out. He will be a long term answer for us & taking him at the end of the 1st round instead of the beginning of the 2nd round gives the cowboys the ability to sign him to a 5 yr contract instead of 4. Gives the boys one more year of cheap labor for all those concerned with the cap. I said it right away & will never waiver. I loved picking him where we did. (just wish we got more out of the trade)

& that as you point out is where the guessing game comes in. Were there 3 teams about to snag him or weren't they? I know this if we didn't get him & one of those teams did, Dallas would have completely screwed their draft. Rather take him in the 1st & have the best center in the draft, than to miss & not have any center, or worse settle for a lesser center that we would feel we had to stretch for. I liked the fact we didn't take the chance (of missing on him) myself. he is my favorite pick in the draft
