He went to arbitration, so the Devils don't have to do anything with him this season at least.

Like b&w said by filing team elected arbitration the devils negated other teams from being able to negotiate or send any offer sheets to him .still hoping the devils get a contract worked out with him though being as going the arbitration route may lock him up for a year but also would make him a ufa next year. However we have a large chunk of money coming off our cap next year as well.As far as the rumblings of parise wanting out of jersey I'll believe them when I hear it coming directly out of his mouth as of now all the parise interviews I have read he has stated the contrary

What's reported in print and what's true are two different things. Parise isn't going to come out and say "I want out. I don't like playing here" mainly because he is under term for another year and would be very unpopular.

The fact he hasn't signed by now is a sure indicator something is wrong. Personally, I think the Kovalchuck signing rubbed him the wrong way. Up until then, he had reason to believe he was the star in New Jersey, and then they give a moronic and what turned out to be an illegal contract to a player the Devils just traded for that year.

Being under contract hasn't stopped many players from asking for trades or voicing their unhappiness with a situation to much in recent history.I also don't see the kovy contract rubbing parise the wrong way.Parise is a team first guy .He has stared more than once when asked about kovy that it was never an issue with him and he was happy with the move because it makes the team better.Even though they went the arbitration route the Lou Lams has still been in contract negotiations and is still making parise his top priority. To be honest the kovy contract isn't even our biggest cap obstacle rolstons is and he comes off the books next year

Him not being signed yet is simply a reflection the devils do business. Not that something is wrong. It's how Lou always has and always will. He filed for arbitration almost admittedly so he could deal with it later.
Also his arbitration date hasn't been announced yet and won't be until late July at the earliest

I don't think Parise is the type of guy that would be bothered by the Kovalchuk signing, or the type of guy that would necessarily want out of that situation. He's been with that team in good and bad years, and I think he wants to win with them. And it's not like the Devils don't have the money to spend on him. Rumors have kinda been blown out of proportion (and I myself fell victim) as usual, just because there's so many things that COULD trigger a lesser athlete to leave (like having another star, being in a poor fan-attracted area, being on a team coming off a bad year, etc. etc.).

its very simple.

the only way zach leaves nj is if he wants to leave nj. not saying that can't happen or thats not the case, but without following bs rumors, all indications point to him wanting to stay. he was even at the devils draft table. thats not something a guy does when he's not getting along with the people he's negotiating with.

In today nhl anything can happen so I wouldn't make any guarantees .but like rko said all indications are pointing in the direction of parise being in good standing with the devils .but tis also rumor season and if I recall correctly the same stuff was said about bobby Ryan and the ducks last year so I can't say the gossip surprises me

If Parise leaves the Devils it will be next year as a free agent, so until then I think we can forget about this conversation.

Haha, well certainly by you. I do honestly believe he will re-sign with the Devils somewhere between 6-7 million a year for 5 years give or take. I agree with not signing him now though. The guy is coming off of knee surgery, let's see how he rebounds before giving him a long term deal.
