There's a lot of talent in that organization. I could see them being a good club pretty soon.

I'd like to see them keep the 1st pick and take Aaron Ekblad and then get two quality forwards in Radim Vrbata and Matt Moulson - they need help on offense and defense so doing those things should definitely make them better

Matt Moulson struggled in the playoffs but he had injuries, he should bounce back and be a really nice player for one of the three young centers he could play with - and Radim Vrbata scored half of his 20 goals on the power play this past season so his arrival could help their power play - special teams is really important

Also depends on what they do with Brian Campbell and whether they trade him and if so, do they get any assets back that might help them next season?

Full circle

But I think he would wait out and see what happens with places like Edmonton and the Islanders - if they get off to slow starts those coaches should be canned - quite frankly they should be canned now so that they can hire him

He's been gone long enough makes sense for him to return now

I'm thinking that if the Oilers can Eakins that MacT will return behind the bench...Back to the topic at hand, I like the Gallant hire by the Panthers.

I can't imagine my Sea Dogs will ever have another 3 year stretch like they did during the 3 years that Gerard Gallant was head coach. All he did in 3 years was win a Memorial Cup, 2 QMJHL Championships, 3 regualar season titles, and 2 CHL Coach Of The Year awards. Hockey Canada really missed the boat by not even naming him as an assistant for the World Junior team in 2011-2012.

During his 3 years with the Sea Dogs he coached Jonathan Huberdeau from a guy very few people heard of to the 3rd overall pick in 2011. After the shitty sophomore season he had under the last coach, I can't help but think that might have been a factor for the Panthers hiring him.

Big loss for Montreal. If it wasn't for their policy of only hiring coaches that speak French, he likely would have been the head coach there for the past 2 seasons. Therrien was the front man for the media and the fans that like the French coaches, but my understanding is Gallant was the players coach for the Habs.
