I was disappointed that the best Americans and Jamaicans didn't participate in the games. Guess all the best runners are preparing for the IAAF's.
Following up - I saw a Pan Am billboard (and there were a few more earlier in the year but most were removed) that had Usain Bolt on it, but he ran at the London GP instead. Surely his plans were set some time ago, right? Isn't this blatant false advertising?

You mean you didn't see the '*Card subject to change' line at the bottom of the billboard?

/Kudos to Toronto for putting on s very successful event :thumb:

Boston just pulled out of bidding for the 2024 Olympics while Toronto has all but announced they're going to bid.

For the love of god please don't let this happen. Get Ford back in the mayor's chair to say some racist shit. We have so many more things we need to spend $10 billion on.

I don't think it's about money as much as it is about bragging rights, Montreal has hosted a Summer Olympics, Calgary and Vancouver have hosted Winter Olympics, Toronto wants to join the club.

I heard $15 Billion being the estimate thrown thrown out there for a toronto olympics ... you kind of hope theyre giving a realistic estimate for a change because historically (since 1996 methinks) bid groups estimates are underestimated by at least 2 times :noidea:

/I saw actual vancouver 2010 costs were 4.7 times greater than budget :jaw:

Didn't Sochi spend close to $40 billion on the Winter Olympics?

The official city estimate before council first voted down submitting a bid last year was about $7 bil. Given the transit and other transportation needs that would have to be addressed along with an athletes village and stadium, $15b sounds about right.

If this is a dick measuring contest why not use that money to build the infrastructure the region needs to be more appealing to business? Being the most economically-friendly region in the country is a much better legacy than the fucking Olympics.
