I like this line:
"I'm 95 percent sure he is not going to play," one source close to the situation said Friday afternoon. "Practicing Wednesday and Thursday, he felt he's not ready to make those high-velocity throws yet. Maybe they could decide something at the last minute, but I don't think he's going to play."

Carson hasn't been able to make those "high-velocity throws" since 2008!

I'm pretty sure that's meant in relation to the timing of those passes. If you don't have the playbook down and don't have a great feel for the speed of your receivers and where they'll be after you've made your 3 or 7 step drop, you don't want to try to squeeze one in based on inaccurate perception and risk an interception.

But then again, I guess your guys' interpretation sounds better.

Carson Palmer was my favorite player, and I want to be able to root for him, but I just can't F'n do it now. It is like a slighted ex. How can you be friends with an ex? If you are able to be friends, then why the F couldn't you still be together? Carson just has upset me too much to root for him now. He is public enemy #1 for me now.

I have nothing but respect for the guy. For the way he handled it in the offseason. For the way he told the reporters in Oakland he won't discuss past matters. Not once did he take a shot at the organization.

And most of all, he stuck to his word, and because of that we've seen major changes in the organization.

1) Brat is gone
2) Chad is gone
3) New medical staff
4) Will be practicing in a bubble

I see it going down like this. Raiders are a good team. they will make the playoffs...

The coaches will calm Carson's little ass down and tell him he doesn't have to compensate for the raiders offense or shitty play calling. Just do your job Carson.

They will improve and start cruising into the playoffs...

and then when the playoffs start the crap will hit the fan.

nothing personal, I just think the Ravens and maybe a few others are better. Carson will take some risks, throw some ints, and we can start not caring about him.

You have no idea if Palmer was a trigger. Marvin Lewis wanted the bubble. After a 4-12 season and expectations of a playoff birth, someone had to be held accountable, and that someone was Brat who managed our ridiculous offense.

Chad was on his last leg, he lost what he had, and it was time to move on from him.

I do not think ANY of this had to do with Palmer, rather than Brown wanting to keep Lewis around and needing to place the blame on public enemy #1, Bratkowski. I think you have a glorified opinion on Palmer that is in no way warranted.

I'm not sure if any of the changes had anything to do with Palmer, but it is true he conducted himself with class and dignity throughout the process, and he never publicly trashed the team, or Brown. As a matter of fact, nobody could even get an interview with him, even as a forum to air his grievances. It is also a fact that he was true to his word, as I said I expected him to be. I hold no ill will toward him, and I would even like to see him succeed with the Raiders. That said, I do hope we kick his ass next season in Cincy.

1) Brat. Marvin re-signs and no changes are made for at least 3 weeks. Then Carson asks for a trade or threatens to retire and Brat is fired within the week.

2. Medical Staff. It was reported by the Carson insider Carson openly had a riff with the medical staff. He was tired of 1) all the misdiagnoses and 2) the coverup after those misdiagnoses, they would never tell the truth. Some 3.5 weeks after Carson threatens to retire if not traded, the medical staff has been replaced.

3. Chad. It was clear that Marvin had grown tired of Chad for what seemed to be years earlier. And also recall Marvin and Brown had been negotiating on a new contract for at least a year before he actually signed. Despite that, at some point Brown still picked up Chad's option well before he had to. That said, it was also clear that Carson also become tired of Chad. And then Brown decides to trade him despite having picked up his option and him being under contract, and this right around the time he meets Carson after the lockout ends. This could very well have been partially or fully Marvin, but the sequence of events points to it more likely having been another desperate measure to get Carson to change his mind.

4. Bubble. It was reported by the Carson insider that Carson at some point offered to return some of his signing bonus or offered some similar deal of the like for Brown to build a bubble. However, to be fair, Marvin has been asking for one for years and was one of his big sticking points to re-signing. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if Marvin came running back with his tail between his legs with the typical Brown promise that he'll get one at some point. I could see one argue this either way, but I wouldn't dismiss for a second this has Carson's name at least partially on it.

Of course you're a homer and despise Carson, so I wouldn't expect any objectivity out of you.

Agreed.

Though in a way, I was hoping after he was traded he'd sit down and talk about his side seeing how he was trashed by the organization (the shots Marvin and Mike have taken) and fans alike and shed some light on and put some pressure on the organization. TO and Chad tried, but it didn't work. But people would listen to Carson.

I don't ever expect it to happen though. And that's respectable.

The people who run the footballpros site are talking to Dhani Jones about becoming a regular contributed there and if he does, I'd be curious if he has anything to say about it.

Not sure why Carson would care about the medical staff..... He never used them anyway. Carson was smart enough to allow a real surgeon do his knee surgery. When he hurt his elbow, he apparently consulted many experts from outside the organization - The fact that he didn't listen to them is another story.

As for the bubble -- I'm fairly sure I've heard Marvin's name attached to this issue more than anyone. And honestly, it's not like Brown has done anything anyway. He simply made a deal to allow the Bengals to use UC facilities - Probably in exchange for future considerations at PBS.
