I'm not a lawyer either, but I find it hard to believe he'll face jail time for not being able to pay something that he simply doesn't have.

I'm sure some financing or payment plan will be put in place where he could kind of pay towards it for awhile. But you can go to jail for not paying court ordered things like this I think, similar to people not going to jail for not paying child support, its a legally structured thing.

It is a judgment in a civil proceeding. It really is nothing like the failure to pay child support which is a criminal offense. He will not go to jail if he can not pay it, but you can be damn sure that every penny he makes will be subject to forfeiture to pay off the award.

Nothing will happen. People think he has more money than he does. Jones will not have to pay them anything. Look at OJ he owes the Goldmen's millions he hasn't paid a dime. He is in jail for robbery.

I think legally some service can garnish your paycheck for things like this.

The only way he can "not pay a dime" is if he appeals it somehow. Otherwise,no point in the court proceedings and judgement. People that get away with "not paying a dime" usually do under the table work. i don't see Jones putting in cabinets for mowing someones lawn.

The only way I can think of is filing for bankruptcy. Certain types of debt can be wiped clean while others will remain. I'm sure bankruptcy would clean his slate in this case.

I wonder if he would qualify?
