His former teammate and asst coach, took over for him after he left, they would later SHARE the 1940 Natl Title, he after taking Stanford to an undefeated season, his former teammate, Bernie Bierman, after continuing the awesomeness at Tulane(which included 2 Natl Titles), at Minnesota, where he landed after Tulane. And 1940 was his 4th of 5 Natl Titles in 8 years before a World War ended his dynasty. Shaughnessy's coaching techniques worked so well at Stanford, Chicago employed him to help them and they won the NFL Title by pummeling their opponent 73-0.
