(02-03) 18:17 PST -- Former Sharks captain Owen Nolan is expected to announce his retirement at a news conference at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at HP Pavilion.

Nolan, who will turn 40 Sunday, played for San Jose from 1995 to 2003, serving as captain the final five seasons. He scored 206 of his 422 career goals and 451 of his 885 career points and played 568 of 1,200 career games as a Shark.

Nolan also represented San Jose in four of his five All-Star appearances, most memorably in 1997, when the game was played in San Jose. He had a hat trick, calling his shot on the final goal. The big winger pointed to the top right corner on a breakaway and scored into that corner, the only goal allowed by Buffalo's Dominik Hasek, who was on his way to a 21-save show that period and his second straight MVP award that season.

Nolan hasn't played in the NHL since 2009-10, when he had 33 points in 73 games for Minnesota.
