1. The defense was on the field too long. 39 minutes.

2. Not enough blitzes. The Texans have a stout left side of the line (3 pro-bowlers), a 4 man rush wasn't going to get there. Earlier in the season, there was a stat that showed the Bengals were amongst the worst in completion % when rushing only 4. This was probably due to the poor secondary, but with Crocker coming back, the secondary got a boost and sending more defenders wasn't as necessary anymore. I'm not sure when Crocker was officially ruled out by the team, but Zimmer did not adjust for it.

ESPN Stats and Info: In the first eight games of the season, the Bengals defense allowed a 70.4 completion percentage with 5 TD and 3 Int when sending four or fewer rushers.... In the last eight games, the Bengals have allowed a 59.3 completion percentage with 3 TD and 8 Int using four or fewer rushers.

Game 7 was Crocker's first start. Not sure if this coincided with anything else major.

Are we really saying the defense didn't do their job yesterday? houston only scored 19, our defense scored our only touchdown. If anyone thinks we lost because of the defense, then they are f***** wrong in the head.

D actually played well. They were on the field for 60 min. or so. Even though Zim didn't dial up ANY pressure. Must have been disappointing to watch the O fizzle time after time.
