Lovie was a better coach then Tresman. Tresman has the better GM. The offense is better because of better talent, something we did not do for Lovie. This whole staff is far worse then our old one. From the D coach to the STs coach we downgraded. I,m not even sure the O coaching is better, just more talent to work with. Sorry about the venting but it needs to be said.

Its your opinion. Right or wrong. Lovie started 5-11 and made change after change to try to make the offense something. After 1 season I couldn't tell you who is better or worse. It makes no difference. Lovie had his chance to make an offense up to par with the defense and just couldn't do it. Even some of Lovies defensive coaches were not that great, like Bob Babich....And some of the offensive coaches weren't that great. Lovie had talent to work with when he got here also. But I believe after 1 season the OC was fired. No matter what talent Trestman had inherited it makes no difference because he had to imploy his system. Mel Tucker should be fired but he may get 1 more chance . Who's better or not means absolutely nothing now. This is a new era in Chicago Bears history. If he gets the defense to come around this could be special

I think it's a reversal from Lovies Staff. Strong Offense and weak Defense. I loved Lovie, but he refused to bring in an O-Coordinator worth a shit. He hired Martz but got rid of him because they had different philosophies. Martz got the O going in his second year until Cutler's Injury. Then, what I still contend, is the worst offseason promotion of all time, MIKE FUCKING TICE. So I'd call it a draw right now, we'll see of Trestman ignores the D like Lovie ignored the O.

No, it's not. It's just basically bizarro world.

Our offensive coaches are fantastic, and our defense lacks.

However, we're one year in man. Far too soon to make that call.

Lovie got nine years. People already want to crucify Treastman after 1?

D Coordinator: downgrade
ST Coordinator: Definitely a downgrade
Trestman is a better offensive mind than Lovie.
GM: huge upgrade

Phil Emery is bizarro Jerry.

Bizarro Jerry Angelo.

The whole world is upside down. He can build and draft on offense, but has yet to come through on a defensive pick.

How much credit do you give Tman and how much goes to better offensive players. And what would Lovie had done with this much offensive fire power. I'm not jumping ship just yet, but so far I'm a little disapointed.

That's because Tresman is a OC & Lovie a HC. But Lovie did not call the offense anyway.

Marshall was in the league when Lovie was there. He had a chance to get him just as much as the Dolphins did. Lovie had a chance to draft better offensive players.....Lovie had Marshall and Jeffery on the team last year. What would Trestman have done with the 2005-2007 defense.? Lovie had a huge ego and it got in his way. Year one of Trestman was a good one. Let's just move on from Lovie and leave the past there. Can't change what happened

No Leo I am not crucifying Tman. I,m still a year or two away from giving up on Tman but I have already given up on his staff.

Lovie gave up on his staff yearly. As did us fans. Things aren't as bad as it seems. Give this st coach devin in his prime and things may have been different. Mel tucker may have coached differently if the injury bug didn't bite. Who knows! It a new year coming up. Lovie didn't do better than the Bears andyou can only speculate he would have been better

But I do disagree that the new staff is worse than the old staff because I simply haven't enough to go on.

I just want to see if Tucker was running someone elses defense in jacksonville or if he was running his own. I dont like this excuse. If he was running his own and it was dead last and running someone elses ended up 29th, I dont see how we are gonna have improvement.

The other change trestman made was in strength and conditioning coach. He wanted the guys to get bigger and stronger where the old guy was conditioning and quicker. I think all the soft tissue injuries showed that this is also an adjustment period that experts say will take two years to really see the difference.

Maybe you wouldn't be disappointed if you had realistic goals for your team. You need to take your blue and orange glasses off noon and see your team for what they were and what most of your fellow posters said they were going to be before the season, an 8 or 9 win team.
One year into a new regime and you want to toss it in? As hard as this is going to be for you to understand, this wasn't the 12 win juggernaut you made them out to be in August, or do every August as a matter of fact.
You have a offensive minded coach, a GM who has given him toys to play with, and a core on that side of the ball that at least for the next couple years is in tact and healthy. Do you need work on defense? Hell yes but this was what I think alot of people seen as a retool or mini rebuild to begin with.

We played like crap last year and won 10 games then added 4 New Olinemen a real TE and a offensive minded coach. So why would anyone expect 8 or 9 wins this year? Injures killed us or we would have hit 12 IMO. But anyone expecting 8-9 wins is just stupid. I'm guessing you had us at 8-9.

not necessarily the truth.

We played like crap against better teams last year for the most part. Generally a new Head coach and new coaching staff isn't going to win the superbowl the first season. 4 new o-linemen including 2 rookies had to have time to gel and they played very well. Offensively we did pretty well. Defensively not so much. Its still only speculation if we would have won more or not and the same could be said for every team that had injuries. I expected 8 wins (+/- 2) based soley on a new coach and staff. Lovie took a 7-9 team and went 5-11. Lovie took the 14th ranked defense and made it the 15th ranked defense. He took the 28th ranked offense and made it the 32nd ranked offense in his first season as head coach.!!! I'm sure you were saying how much greater Dick Jauron was after that first year debacle by Lovie. A lot of people were thinking the Bears may not win as many games but the team may be bettter. At least something got better. The ST weren't as bad as it seemms and if they had a in his prime Devin Hester, it may have been better. The least you cake is give Trestman the same consideration you gave Lovie.

Like I said almost all your fellow bears fans here were saying 8 to 9 wins. And lets not fool ourselves with your 10 win season in '12...I don't feel like that argument again. You were an 8 or 9 win team that year too disguising yourself as a borderline playoff team.
