HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Almost got it out with a straight face.

If Sid gets elbowed by Foligno, Nick would be gone for ten games. Guaranteed. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

WTF are you talking about? Sid got a forearm to his face in the first game, no penalty, he got punched by Backes against St. Louis, no suspension....

Jesus, you people are freaks. Let's not forget, neither of the hits that concussed Crosby last year were penalized either. Don't let that stop your "league loves Crosby" fantasies though...

I really don't think it's that big of a deal. It was a scrum and Foligno took a shot to the head. It wasn't really vicious but maybe uncalled for. I wish the refs would stop giving the Sens the short end of the stick though. This is the third year in a row that they have led the league in having a more penalties then calls for. If it happened one year then fine but 3 years in a row is a little much.

Yeah, that's been my opinion since the hit occurred. Heck, when it happened I thought very little of it, other than "that was stupid Sid, don't put us down a player"...even though it ended up 4 on 4. That's why I don't understand where all this conversation is coming from. That's a play that would NEVER result in anything other than a minor maybe major penalty.

You're flipping out on me for a joke when you seem to have a dry erase board with every infraction against the Golden child and the resulting punishment hanging right above your desk?

Lighten up, Francis.

For the record, Crosby is not a chippy player. Just want to set that straight. Great player, but not all around (he is a fairy). Secondly, there is no second because I did not see any of the hits you people are talking about.

It's actually an electronic database, what kind of amateur do you take me for?

A little testy since I'd just come from HFBoards where there were three+ threads on the exact subject, and usually I expect this place to be a bit more balanced on these issues. I mean, a player bumps the goalie and gets roughed up. Definitely penalty worthy, but do you really think it deserves anything more?

Not our fault the league loves Sidney.

I would love to get the same model crystal ball that Shanahan is using to determine who gets penalized for what.

I am still pissed that Lucic got zero and Wiz got 12. No one can defend that. And even Campbell didn't have such wild mood swings.

It's a tough situation for all of the players. If someone lays Crosby out they will be a villain even if it's a clean hit. On the other hand the honeymoon will be over with his injury and sooner or later if he wants to engage a player he will need to answer the bell.

My feeling is from what I have seen so far he has been in a situation to get smoked but the players seem to have backed off. It will not take too long before someone takes that shot and I don't care who is on the ice to help him out once the check is thrown it's to late for that....ask Lindros.

I agree with most of this. In the two games that I've seen Crosby play in his return a number of players have backed off when they could have finished their checks on Sid. It's almost as if they're easing him back in (not all players obviously).

The elbow/butt-end to Foligno isn't a really big deal, but if the positions were reversed there's have been a lot.... " if you ever do that to Sid again I'll hunt you down" and " I thought the league was trying to get rid of that kind of thing" and a little "Foligno deserves at least two games for that".

I admit I'd probably be a bit testy if it happened, only because of that missing 10 months, but I don't think I'd call for a suspension, just for someone to come in and rough up Foligno a bit.

I dont understand what the big deal is. Actions by both parties are physical hockey plays. Crashing the net is a style of play, and so was the response (cross checks and a pop to the noggin). At one pt, hits like cookes were legal, but they cause injuries, so the league is putting a stop to those. I doubt sids elbow even knocked a booger loose.

It was actually more of a butt-end I think, but there really isn't much to see here other than some bad reffing.
