Just saying but LOL @ the people looking at his record as a reflection of HIS play. There are many stats that can be used to judge a QB. Team record is at the bottom of the list, if it's even there.

Team records are just that, TEAM records. While QB's are the biggest cog, they cannot do it alone (unless their name is Peyton Manning)...........

I'm not being defensive at all...... The kid won a game at the end - A nice sign for a rookie. He played a game in weather that Maurice Jones Drew described as a 'hurricane' and didn't make any mistakes. When the weather cleared and he had an opportunity to take the game, he competed 4 straight passes, put his team in scoring position and won the game.

You claim his potential is Vick. I think he is nothing like Vick.

Through 3 games he has passed for over 1000 yards and has a qb rating of over 85. I was a big supporter of Cam and I didn't think he'd perform that well in his first 3 games. He's been a very good quarterback in his first 3 games - It can't be denied.

And let's be honest - On the old ESPN boards there were a thousand posts claiming that Cam Newton couldn't play QB in the NFL. I'm not talking about anything you posted - You've mostly stated that he would be a Vick at best. But, there were many folks that said the kid couldn't play at all and that he would be Akili Smith or JeMarcus Russel. So if you want to blame everyone for posting after ONE game, why not blame the folks that claimed he couldn't play after ANY games.

1) Having a good 3rd game can absolutely be "denied".
2) As for the whole blame game. Before the season everyone gives their opinion about everyone. This shouldn't be a surprise nor unexpected. However, after the season started, only a few (at least one) prematurely tried to throw their opinion in everyone's face instead of allowing everything to play out.

cincygrad is right about that. When Luck was in the draft, several folks where saying "no cam newton, cam newton equals akili smith", after Luck decided to stay in school, all the sudden the draft press starts talking about how good Cam Newton is.

I never understood why the draft press changed their mind about him, but I don't watch much college football, so admittedly, I fail as a scout. Cam is doing good. He whipped Gabbert's ass yesterday in a monsoon. that's a pretty good stat.

Cam Newton has a quarterback rating of over 85 and has already thrown for over 1000 yards on a team that last season was completely inept on offense. Through 3 games (a very small sample) he has much better stats than other recent quarterbacks taken first overall. None of this is speculation - It is fact.

I'm just shocked that he has been able to call plays and read defense - Everyone was so sure that this simply wasn't possible.
