The worst I've seen live was in a woman's game I was reffing. I sweat the crack was like a gun shot. Her leg was sideways at the shin. Had to wait for the ambulance to drive on to the field.

in response to the videos...there is NOTHING better than a good fan reaction video. after every 'burgh championship i hit up youtube and spend hours watching them. i really need to start recording my reactions, i think it'd help relive the moment ya know. of course with this goal, there'd be a lot of beeps. i was cussing up a storm until we scored. heh. i did watch these reaction vids for about an hour last night...i just love them. cup ones (hawks ones were pretty decent this year) are obviously the best

I didn't realize how many chances the US had to get a goal in that game. I think they had at least 8 near misses and then the goals that were not counted because of some BS offsides call.

Great post, Naslund. Definitely teared up a little with pride.

Part of what makes those videos so great is the way the goal was scored... the anticipation with a breakout at high speed across midfield, a chance deep in the box, a strike the goalie just fights off, and then the ultimate release with the goal being scored. The reactions in Lincoln, NE (i think the first one) mirror this to perfection.

there was the dempsey 'goal', the dempsey saved shot and consequently missed rebound, the gomez miss early on, the donovan/altidore miscommunication on the open net, the altidore miss on his own, and another at the end i can't remember who shot it (late 70's minute).
