icymi … this “bomb cyclone” has potential to hit the island hard tommorow

Interior areas not hit so hard they say. We might get the rain but not the high winds.

And I’d like my creek to have a real good run so that I can throw some shit in it instead of hauling it up to the street.

Yeah, I think there's a chance we lose power due to some high winds, but I think we're at a low enough elevation that we should avoid significant snow fall (could have a good amount of rain however).

We did lose power a little after 10 pm last night and it was restored some time between 4 and 4:30 am this morning. Still pretty windy out there at the moment.

my sister in laws power is still out ... they saw power was expected back Saturday but now its saying Sunday. Puget Sound Energy making BC Hydro look very good right now. And theyre not in the sticks ... its a part of Kirkland that is new development (like Langley here). Schools closed and limited wifi too because towers went down ... as of last night Seahawks power hasnt returned at their Redmond facility

...and now the rest of the story (Paul Harvey voice) ... her family is coming up today to stay with us this weekend :gaah:

That's the thing, when I moved out here in the summer of 2008, one of my first purchases was a generator as I was worried about power outages, but I've only had to use it a couple of times in those 16 years. Two years ago, Fortis brought a gas line to my neighborhood and because it was right close to my house, I got a hookup for the low low price of 15 dollars. Now I have a gas fireplace in my living room that provides plenty of heat if the power goes out.

My sister in law has a back up generator installed ... runs on propane though ??? I have no clue why its not hooked up to their natural gas. HOA rule maybe ?

I have 4 fireplaces in my house .....I know I know....

3 were converted to Gas and one left for Wood. I kept the wood burning as is and cleaned it up to ensure it was safe and use it in the winter months. its really great to have in case we lose gas and power but even losing power my gas fireplace still starts up .. our last house had a wood burner and a gas and i converted the wood burner to gas and I always regretted it (except for the resale value of it)

Power goes out a lot where I am. Generator is a fantastic thing to have.

Makes the whole “natural gas bad let’s ban it” stuff kinda frightening.
