They seem hell bent on going ahead even though they knew a month ago that cases were surging and the vaccination rate in Japan is very low. Put it this way, I don't blame any athlete for pulling out of these Tokyo Olympics with how messy things are getting.

The Polish swimming team also tried to have 6 swimmers try to blend in with the Japanese. Alas, it did not work.

Yes, they should have cancelled this event, but I don't think there is any way they will at this point. Too much money involved and too far along in the process.

On the plus side, the rehearsal of the opening ceremonies went well today... albeit slow.

That's a pretty good start drawing against the host nation. I don't put much stock in FIFA rankings (men's or women's) and Canada is ranked two spots higher than Japan (8 vs. 10).
