This is totally freaking cool. I was friends with this guy and his brother growing up. We hung out and rode our bikes and just goofed off from June til September. We raced on the same team, hung out in the shop on rainy days and got into all the same trouble. We rode that ratty ass skatepark from sun up to sun down. I had no fear, and tried to make a living at it. I did for a year or two. But Brian (and his brother Alan) both had that extra something. And they both made big time careers out of it. Everything I was willing to try, he was willing to go faster or higher. And there was never a dull moment.

Now, that squirrelly kid I met when he was 12 is in the BMX hall of fame. And on his way to a doctorate in Physical Therapy. Couldn't be happening to a better person.



And, I was there the day they did the photo shoot. The shot of him at 10 seconds, I am on the hill in the blue shirt. His brother Alan is at the bottom of the hill and my best friend Dave is in white barely visible behind the skaters who were taken by surprise by Brian making the jump. There were a number of times we'd show up at one of our friends' house and find Brian sleeping on the floor next to his bike. Have a quick breakfast and off we'd go.
