I can recall playing only 1 course over the years (out of 100+), where a golf ball could make it to the ocean. So I find the claim that golf balls from the majority of American courses can "easily" end up in the ocean to be highly dubious. Ocean trash is clearly a problem, but I doubt golf balls are even a marginal portion of that debris.
But thats about $9-11K in golf balls most likely, so good on them for cleaning 'em up.
