I actually just recently went through and read the whole comic. I was surprised at how much the show diverged from it in just the first season. It will be interesting to see where the show gets taken.

There are some huge changes right away. I like the comics but so far I really like the series. The comics writer said he is not opposed to going away from the comics as he views them as two different things and also doesnt want comic fans to know what to expect.

Yeah it will be fun to see where they take it. I would have to agree liking the series a little bit better. The comic is good. But I don't know. Something about the series just stands out. Hopefully it can keep that up.

There is some great great stuff in the comics and certain issues and story arcs flew by for me. But there were also parts that really seemed to drag, I am not talking about pacing - there were some slow parts where it was really cool, but there were other parts where they didn't seem to know where they were going.
