Tried to give the show another chance. Watched for 20 minutes. Couldn't take an hour long drawn out game of "eenie meenie minie moe."

Googled who died in Walking Dead. Saved 40 minutes.

Thought it was pretty unbearable TV.
I wasn't real impressed either. Repeating the same kind of time jumps they used before didn't really help the story. I'm not a big fan of torture p*rn either which I thought a lot of this was.

And he still thought it would be a good idea to go for a drive. :L

Not sure if his driving problems were due to his impaired vision or if he just inherited poor driving skills from his mother.

my goodness that torture-**** episode turned a lot of people away
this week was the first increase in viewership all season.
(could be a lot of casual watchers tuned in to ep1 just to find out who)

  • Episode 1: 17.03 million, 8.4 rating (18-49)
  • Episode 2: 12.46 million, 6.1
  • Episode 3: 11.72 million, 5.7
  • Episode 4: 11.40 million, 5.4
  • Episode 5: 11 million, 5.2
  • Episode 6: 10.40 million, 4.9
  • Episode 7: 10.48 million, 4.9

me, I want the story to circle back to her every now and then

There are open comic storylines for a character like her coming up, so I suspect we will see her again. Potentially as a somewhat major character.

hey comeds ... westworld or walking dead ? whats better these days ?

/I dont even need an answer lol
I did not like the first episode of the season. Lame torture-**** IMO but I actually liked the second. Still I got caught up in Westworld and other shows ( plus idiot puppy has taken some TV time) have been a higher priority. Kind of a slow period coming up so I may catch up.

I finally broke down and watched most of the season last/this week.

...ugh....

Yeah, King Ezekial is a really compelling character and Carol continues to be the most interesting character from the original Rick gang. That second episode was great...

...and then there is the rest of the season, which is a pile. Every episode is Negan being like "what was that?!?!," sorry, and then "yeah, that's what I thought." That's basically it, week after week. Negan is one dimensional as fuck and if Jeffrey Dean Morgan can't make him interesting you have a room full of shitty writers. Or maybe the original story/comics just aren't that good. Maybe Robert Kirkman built a cool story/dynamic in the comics and just kept it going too long.

I don't know. What I do know is that I could see how someone would like season 7, but it would require having no knowledge of what storytelling is, what characters are, and how humans work. Otherwise, great show!

Aside/epilogue: You know how there are all those great stories/movies from the WWII era about resistance against the Nazis. Stories where we learn the depth of humans and where we see passion, sacrifice, and loss in the face of tough odds. If you reversed all those great movies and made them about the SS officer doing his day job and coming back to his home life, they wouldn't be so compelling would they?

PSS - That was rhetorical, but let me go ahead and say, uh.... no... They would.. not... be.

The Kingdom episode was good.

The one off with Tara on a field trip was good.

I feel like the other 6 episodes were reinforcing the concept, "Negan bad"

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but after he bludgeoned Glenn and Abraham to death I pretty much had that bit worked out for myself.

It was 8 hours of TV to get us from Rick not being willing to fight back to the 10 minutes of silent nodding by the group in a circle at the end of episode 8.

Disappointing, and the ratings bear that out.

Side note: in the beginning of the Easy Street episode Dwight watched "Who's The Boss?" (Subtle!) while "A Town Called Malice" plays. Never having seen the show my wife looked at me and asked if that was really the show's theme.

I watched the first three episodes last of the first half of the season. I liked one and thought the others were terrible. From what I hear the rest were not great. Any opinions on whether I should watch them or delete them.

The episodes by themselves are alright, but the whole has been lacking. The two episodes finally break the "bottle-episode" format they have been utilizing the last few seasons. And they were both good episodes.

Like I do my nephew's sporting events?

I have not deleted them yet which says something, but not sure if I want to watch them either. I guess I'll try the 4th episode.

If this was poker, I'd say you're pot committed.

You can see my first half of the season breakdown above and my guess would be that you'll have the same reaction/overall feeling after watching them that I did because you and I tend to align on what makes (or doesn't make) a great episode of TV.

I'll probably watch out the series at this point because of the time I've committed. But I rarely catch them on broadcast night anymore, and just binge watch them when I have no plans on a weekend day.
