So... I have been on the hunt for some new music. And let me tell you it is hard, but it is out there. For my fellow instrumentalists, please check out Red Sparrowes. I just got the album "The Fear Is Excruciating, But Therein Lies the Answer", and let me tell you, it is beautiful. It is all instrumental, but the music truly paints a picture.

If you do decide to check them out, listen to the track "Giving Birth to Imagined Saviors"

I also created this for people to list some good new material they may have stumbled across.

You want beautiful.......try anything by Enya.

It is the exact opposite of what we listen to on a daily basis.

I respect her stuff, but not for my ears. I can listen to it, just not something I would put on manually.

he's a guy i know from a musician's forum, has been touring with Chris Cornell, Melissa Ethridge, Hole etc
just a monster player. He's finally put out his own CD this month, instrumental rock.... reminds me of Joe Satriani.

There's a guy from the Boston area who's name is Johnny A. He's a bluesy/ Jazzy type of guitarist. I actually met him at this small blues festive in Onset, MA aptly named the Onset Blues festive. Gibson has a signature guitar named after him. I guess that's when you know you've made it big. Here's a video of him. In the 1st 6-1/2 minutes he tells a story about when he saw Jimi Hendrix in 70. Pretty funny.

The Spazmatics! Saw these guys a couple weeks ago. Best modern band around, methinks.

Johnny A has some great tone happening on Wichita Linesman. I'm not generally a fan of middle pick-up position chord melody playing -- and through a Marshall to boot, but he's got it going on there.

Well I had to check Youtube, but I just skmmied through Epitaph and, yes, it does have a similar vibe.
