They can change who wears the C and the As. But they can't change their history. Moving letters around while keeping the same players, does not a different team make.
Simply put, they chocked before, they choked this past season and they will choke again.

Thing is the Sharks were/are a good team, they just can't win in the playoffs. Maybe it is leadership, maybe coaching, maybe bad luck.

Marleau in the article: "That is why I will be wearing a letter after training camp."

Wanna bet, Patrick? Say bye-bye to the A, buddy...

I'm thinking Sharks management want to hand the leadership roles over to the younger generation much like the Kings did when they named Brown the captain. My guess is that Couture ends up wearing the "C" after training camp. The "As" are up for grabs and could go to a veteran forward and their top defenseman who I believe is Vlassic.

Well, Sharks can't move Thorton or Marleau because they don't want to leave. Hell Marleau has now lost the C and the A while being there.

Palveski should get the C on that team, and then Couture and Vlasic getting the As.

Honestly it shouldnt be a big deal. You don't need a letter to be a leader. Kings are proof of that.

Sharks aren't a bad team at all. Their defense could use some work and they need a better goalie. If they can finally move Thorton and Marleau for those pieces it could get them over the hump.

Haven't we seen this before? And it worked out so well, right?

As Deader said, they aren't a bad team, they have some good players. I'll take that one step further however and will say they don't have the right players. Not enough character guys on that team, too much skill. "Grit" (Mike Brown? John Scott? Really?) is not the same as "character" and they lack that to the bare bottom with most of their T9 group.

Also as Deader said, neither Thornton nor Marleau will waive their NMC/NTCs unless the situation gets unbearable for them. They make a shit ton of money and love living in NoCal, they aren't going anywhere and will ride this train until the end. Unless of course the organization does stuff to alienate them, in which case they will look like the good guys where as they were the problems all along. One of these two should have been moved a few years ago.

So in closing removing the Cs and As and whatnot...accomplishes nothing because the personnel and culture has not changed.
