Woo Hoo!

Not that I care or follow basketball but our economy would have taken a noticeable hit if the Kings left town. Well done Kevin Johnson.

A powerful committee of NBA team owners on Monday rejected the Kings’ proposed relocation to the Pacific Northwest. The unanimous 7-0 vote by the league’s relocation committee could kill the $357 million deal the Maloof family struck to sell the team to investors from Seattle

SLAM ONLINE | » NBA Committee Recommends Kings Stay in Sacramento

Well poop (but good news for Slim)

Honestly I'm glad to see the Kings aren't leaving but still saying no to what would be the richest ownership group in the NBA in the 11th largest market in the US? I don't know what Stern has against Seattle, but this sure does seem personal. My hope is that Hansen and Ballmer can get an expansion team out of the NBA from this. Stern's gonna be gone in 2 years, I'd start working on Adam Silver if I was Hansen and co. From what I understand the MOU Hansen has with Seattle is good for 5 years, so there's still time to sort this out.

KJ will be getting all the congrats and the accolades, but they really should be going to David Stern. Where was that support for Seattle in 2008 David?

Maybe Stern just doesn't like the Pacific Northwest (I mean, just look at the support he gave the Grizzlies)

If you get on Stern's shit list, you never get off of it.

Just wait until Adam Silver takes over...

Not at all. Mayor Johnson did a hell of a job rallying support for the arena and pulling an ownership group out of his ass at the last minute. I can understand your frustration but a biased NBA committee was just the last visible step. There was a TON of work done locally to get this team in a position to let the committee recommend they stay.

Everything from working on public opinion and multiple arena plans to finally get something through the city to taking advanced non monetary pledges to buy season tickets if the teams stayed to finally getting the ownership group in place. There was a whole Here We Stay group that lead the public opinion charge. It was interesting to see this city pull it together, surprised me, I thought we were short sighted enough to just let them go.

Maybe, I still say it doesn't get done without Stern. If Stern had done for Seattle in 2008 what he did for Sacramento this year, the Sonics would never have left.

The problem is the fact that, to this point, the ownership group he has put together has been unstable since day one. We will see when half the deposit is put in escrow. But then that brings a potential of a lawsuit for the fact that David Stern is forcing the Maloof's to sell for less money. There is nothing stable in the entire Sacramento offer except Kevin Johnson fighting to keep the team.

Sacramento deserves the Kings and I'm truly glad they have a great chance at it because it would be horrible if Seattle stole the Kings the way Scumbag Bennett and Toad Stool Stern stole the Sonics. The whole problem in this entire thing is that OKC should've gotten the Hornets. Stern's obsession with New Orleans caused this whole mess by allowing the Charlotte Hornets to leave, Charlotte supported the Hornets more than New Orleans ever has. The Bobcats don't get support but he can't admit a mistake a move them again. Stern's ego has been a huge problem with the NBA. First his closed door suspension of Michael Jordan for his gambling problem that killed his dad, the league suffered so he dropped his closed door suspension. His doctoring the lottery, his obession with turning the NBA global when globally there is better basketball played. Under his watch he had a boom in popularity but also has watched the NBA dip to the 4th most popular sport behind the NFL, MLB and Nascar..arguably the UFC as well.

Funny part about New Orleans, I was just there on vacation last week and everyone I talked to their were Miami Heat fans.

You forgot the referee gambling scandal that he somehow got pushed under the rug.

The biggest problem I have with the NBA is knowing who's going to win the title every year. There are only 2 or 3 teams that really have a shot. This year is no different. It's bascially the Miami Heat Invitational. It would be nice if some upsets would happen. It's just extremely rare.

In comparison the NHL always has upsets. In the 1st round both 2nd & 3rd seeds lost. 4 contenders out in Round 1. That just doesn't happen in the NBA. The only reason OKC went out in the 2nd round was because Westbrook was injured. The Nets couldn't get passed a beat up Bulls team. Pathetic.
