A useful idiot.
Top 3 North Korea Sports "Truths"
(3) Glorious dictator bowls a perfect 300
To be fair, Kim Jong Il does have a bowler's body. Low on the list because it lacks that real sensationalism. A 300 his first time bowling seems pedestrian compared to his golfing skills, no? I would have preferred something like 4 straight perfect games and 53 straight strikes until a lowly spare.
(2) Soccer Team Struck by Lightning
North Korean team manager Kwang Min Kim blamed last week's 2-0 loss to the U.S. in the women's World Cup because FIVE players from the team were struck by lightning during training a few weeks prior. No mention of this incident were made before the start of the tournament or at the time of the incident itself. That's the best excuse for a loss I've ever heard. If they had said the lightning strick happened during the 2-0 loss, that would have been ever better. But this was definitely one upping the alleged food poisoning the men's team suffered at the hands of the South Koreans a few years back.
(1) Kim Jong Woods
On his first ever trip to the golf course, Kim Jong Il shot 38-under par, including 5 hole-in-ones (on a 7,700-yard course no less). He didn't par any holes (only part of the story that is true), because he did no worse than birdie on any hole that day. That is an astounding feet considering most first timers wouldn't even par a single hole.
