I've been playing online games concerning the elements all day. Here's one of them:

Can you name the abbreviations for the elements of the Periodic Table? - sporcle

They also have one to fill in the Periodic Table, one that's opposite the one I posted, one for elements by letter, elements that don't end in m or n, elements that don't end in um, and various groups of elements.

I think they're fun.

=)

you would. our teacher made us play games to learn them.

I just found another one for S.I. units. I only got 15 out of 29, though. I totally blanked on farad and lumen, and misspelled Celsius on accident the first time I typed it in and thought it was just the wrong answer, so never tried it again. Oh well.

The abbreviations were my best, besides the easy ones like naming the alkali metals and the Nobel gases. And I did really well with the ones that didn't end in "m" or "n" or the one for "um." But I got 102 on my first try for the abbreviations. I only got like 55 on filling the Periodic Table, though...

If I could type faster I might have done better, just typing all the first 2 letters of the name for the ones I didn't know, and then going back in filling the ones I do remember (Au, Ag, Pb, Fe, Cu, K, Na, etc.) For the life of me I couldn't remember tin.
