Also, what the heck, Adam LaRoche. Why couldn't you have been this competent for the Pirates? 30 home runs and almost 100 RBIs? Where did that come from?

Why did Locke have to have a meltdown?

6-5 with the Pirates still in the lead, but I wanted to win this one comfortably.

Let's get some insurance, Gabby!

I told you Pirates' fans that Erik Bedard was tricksy. I told you he was false! ;)

He did tease us. :tsk:

But at least we remembered how to hit. :thumb:

I'm just glad it's looking like I don't have to send you or Pix $5 and eat my words.

At least the Pirates' are moving in the right direction. They just don't have the pitching to hang with the playoff teams quite yet. But they have building blocks now. They didn't even have bristle blocks a few seasons ago.

We have about half the rotation we need. Cole might be ready next year, and his ceiling is at Verlander (although the odds are low that he'll actually reach that ceiling), and I expect him to contribute once he's ready. I mean, the guy touches 101 in the 6th.

In any case, I think Wandy, Karstens, and AJ are all solid pitchers. The jury's out on JMac, but the talent's there. He just needs to get consistent. I think signing one guy this offseason, a #2 type, as well as acquiring a legitimate short stop, and we'll contend for the playoffs.

These young pitchers we called up for the bullpen are just not getting the job done right now. Hopefully, they settle down a bit and start helping out.

In the meanwhile, we need guys like Hughes and Grilli to get back on track.

Great. Grand slam. Two pitchers, no outs, five runs.

What is wrong with our bullpen?

He must be thinking he's back playing for the Tigers. He was beyond horrible and we couldn't wait for him to get outta town...

His fastball command has been fantastic this year. Even while he's been in a rough patch lately, his command's been good.

Resop, Hughes, Qualls, Takahashi, and all of the young guys have been pretty bad latley.

This game has been horrifying in so many ways...three close plays at first base that all got called against us (only 100% sure that the last one was a mistake), Fielder knocking Avila out cold trying to get a foul ball, Porcello doing his job getting ground balls and still getting scored upon...good to see the team fighting hard.

That's because I wasn't watching. I turned it on right after Avila got knocked out of the game. Notice what happened once I tuned in? :D

With #WhiteSox having already won 9-2... that 3-run HR by Miguel Cabrera to give #Tigers 6-5 lead is stuff of which MVPs are made. 38th HR.
