I don't want Marte until he's absolutely ready. I don't want another Pedro debacle because we get desperate and call him up early.


Also, Burnett's power curve looks fantastic.

True...but how do you determine readiness? I guess he'd be a good candidate for a late summer call up. Does need some more time in AAA, but I'm not sure that the Pedro thing was purely rushing him, he has some fundamental issues. Those clearly seen in that he's only got 2 hits (HRs) and a billion Ks. I don't know enough about Marte to determine his issues though...

Tabata's also pulling off the ball right now. He's not keeping his head down through the swing. That's why he's swinging over the ball so much, both swings and misses and little tappers.

And that's been what this slump is. He's not popping up very often. His outs are tappers and K's.

Very similar to Pedro, actually. Hits the ball a lot and hard, but lacks discipline and tends to swing and miss a lot.

That's what makes me nervous about him, and that's why I compared him to Pedro.

Half a season at least at AAA with a high average and good power numbers will be enough, though, to quell my concerns that he can't make up for a low walk rate with a high batting average.

I'm very pleased with McGehee however. Not necessarily happy that Pedro is at 3B and therefore Jones is out...he's been hitting well.

Presley started off pretty hot though...he's mostly consistent, that's what's needed of him. Need so much more from the #2 spot.
