I like how he switches the balls and throws another one back.

So that Phillies game last night was a tire fire huh - seven unanswered runs given up in the 6th

Ryne Sandberg has rocks for brains as a manager. Jerome Williams was cruising along, at 70 odd pitches in the sixth, gives up a home run and single and promptly gets the hook. I'm sorry, when your bullpen is rubbish and your starter has a half decent game going, against his former team nonetheless, you don't pull him just because he gave up a home run.

The ones that grind me are the pitcher who gets pulled after a bloop single, and error, and a dribbler that found a hole. He's still pitching well. His defense is letting him down. Leave him in, he'll probably get out of it alright.

On the other hand, the pitcher who's getting lucky on hard-hit balls gets left in too long because no one's scored yet.

Also, Baseball Thread, there's a little contest on the MLB forum, and I'm in it. We drafted teams with a $110 million cap, and we're having folks vote on which is the best. I won't tell you which is mine, but we need more votes, so if you could go vote on all four matchups (they're stickied) to up the vote totals a bit, it would be appreciated.

I'll let you know which team was mine after I win the title. ;)

Yeah I don't think Ryno is the brightest as a manager and that worried me a bit - a great player turning into a manager doesn't always equal success - I can't necessarily blame him though because the team sucks and there's no talent and I guess he'd rather take Jerome Williams out before he completely imploded than after, but still, it looked like he was pitching halfway decent

I don't like how the Phillies have been handling Darin Ruf until just recently, he needs to play everyday - if he played everyday he'd be a 30 home run hitter

So AJ Burnett has 13 losses now this season - he'll end up with as many losses as his 2014 salary by the end of the season

Earl Weaver must have loved that 3-run homer by Adam Jones last night to beat the Yankees...

I liked it! I don't know how far they can go, but if they win the division I will be happy. Looking good, but I am worried about the injuries catching up with them.
