Kinda cool that I get to listen to Vin Scully calling this Tigers/Dodgers game tonight, but it makes me miss Ernie Harwell more. :(

The Pirates showed very good plate discipline tonight, which was nice to see. It looks early like both Pedro Alvarez and Starling Marte have turned a corner in terms of maturity as hitters. I hope that keeps up.

Absolutely. Pedro gets primary assist on the game winning run in drawing the walk that loaded the bases to set up the sac fly.

Last year, he would have swung at all of those breaking balls. This year, he's shown better restraint so far.

Honestly, with any kind of luck, the way he's been hitting the ball this year, his average could easily be close to .300. Lots of hard hit balls going into gloves for him. The double play in the first game, and two flyouts to deep left-center against the Cardinals come to mind especially. But he's going to left and center a lot more early on, and it's leading to better struck balls and fewer whiffs.

Skully does kinda butchers the names of Tigers players. Apparently Dan Kelly has come in to replace Torii Hunter in the outfield, lol. Oh, nevermind, he corrected himself.

Oh, and one more thing...WTF, Bonifacio??? You can turn it off any time now.

That's 14 hits for him in 4 games against the Bucs, batting .667

His last at bat today was both odd and unsuccessful. It looked like he was trying to just jam the ball straight into the ground, but swung too early and popped it up instead.

I know it's early, but the Pirates have struck out less than any other team in the NL so far. That's a good sign, I think.

WOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Just when it looked like LA had dodged the big one (great battle against Cabrera - challenged him with well-placed fastball after fastball and eventually striking him out), Martinez comes through with the game-tying RBI!!!
