No, I think we released him. If we didn't, he's chilling in AAA. Lyle Overbay is our first baseman now. Steve Pearce is the backup. Pearce crushes left-handed pitching and Overbay's a lefty, so they might platoon a bit, and Pearce is Gold Glove material at first.

Unfortunately, he doesn't hit right-handed pitching well enough, and he's 27, so he's not going to improve. The organization once believed that he was the future, but AAA breaking balls killed him. He's a good bench/platoon option and has good pop.

After months of frustration and failure, it's good to get results I can use. I would have liked them a little earlier, but what are you going to do...

I'm going to have to write and edit vigorously next week if I want to get this thing done, though. A week from Monday or Tuesday I need to submit it to the print shop to be bound. The four more data sets I want to get will likely take 24 to 36 lab hours. I'll be in for six tomorrow, three on Tuesday, nine to twelve on Wednesday, and twelve on Thursday if necessary. On Friday, I write. All day. I do nothing but write.
