A former Civil War Confederate colonel is hunting down a Union colonel who had his house burned. The latter's soldiers told him that the house was empty, but there was actually a baby in it, and the former's wife and oldest son ran in to save the baby, but died in the fire.

It's just way too long. And you don't find out why the Confederate dude is chasing the Union dude until way too late in the movie. And most of it is just the Union dude either moaning and almost dying or suddenly being able to kill everything around him, and the other dude looking all angry.
