billy bragg gets a rep
great tune. was going to post the rest of the lyrics,
but it's better just to hear it.

I like the whole song but really always liked the "I don't feel bad about letting you go I just feel sad about letting you know" lines.

It's a good line. Wasn't familiar with it, but he has a great voice. Really grabs you right away.

did this get posted on the weekend? (sorry if it did)

Field lacrosse has its prepster rapists while Boxla has its "likes to fight guys"

lol nice commentary by Gallagher (Vancouver province)

When on vacation one tries to forget about the world of sport and focus on other matters so as to retain some semblance of sanity, but occasionally some things are so alarming they stand out.

For starters, is there anything quite so absurd as a brawl in a Western Lacrosse Association game like the one which took place last week between the New Westminster Salmonbellies and Langley?

Are these guys really that stupid? Do they ever sit down to figure out the risk-reward balance sheet of playing lacrosse or playing any game at a level where there is going to be a temptation to start a brawl in which somebody could get seriously injured over an amateur title that nobody cares about? Seriously, the only thing funnier about the video from last week's total deviation from sanity was how few people were in the stands to actually watch the thing.

And let's be clear, there is way more chance of being seriously injured in something like this where athletes' feet are firmly planted on a floor than there is in hockey fights, which themselves have been proven to be increasingly dangerous. Yet here they were, guys who are professionals by day, taking the most absurd risks to both themselves and the long-term well-being of their families over a game that nobody cares about. Seriously folks, one punch and somebody's life and the lives of their loved ones could get very seriously altered. Over what? A WLA title? You cannot be serious.

It's been funny enough over the years to watch CFL players take the risks they do for as little money as some of them make, but surely this is a new low point in people thinking things through.

i always liked:
I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
i wish, i wish, i wish you cared.

this was my first intro to Billy (song starts at 0:13). still love this song.

I'm not surprised Tony G doesn't like boxla. it's a bit tough for his tender tootsies.
I was watching the news last night, and the sports highlights had one poor guy on the ground who had his helmet knocked of getting crosschecked repeatedly in the head by two opponents. I thought that was the focus of the highlight but the ball squeaked loose and someone scored... there was no penalty on the massacre by the boards.

So I came home from work and I got in the shower. Halfway through there was a big crash of thunder. Scared me half to death and I almost fell in the shower...

Well this moped dude is dead!

No, no, 'e's uh,...he's resting.

Look, matey, I know a dead moped dude when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.

No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable guy, the moped dude, idn'it, ay? Beautiful leather jacket!

The leather jacket don't enter into it. He's stone dead.

Nononono, no, no! 'E's resting!
