Yep. All it does is add a bunch of low-paying jobs and adds to the tax burden when people start losing their shirts. Most of the money ends up in the hands of the casino owners/developers. Too bad the trend is going the other way.![]()
putting the moral/social quandry of gaming aside:
heres the timeline on how our city/province has gone about things:
Wynn wants to build destination casino/convention centre
city/province says no to the proposal to expand gaming
city/province decides to build convention centre during height of construction boom when labour/material costs were sky high (project ends up costing just shy of $1 Billion)
city/province decides to expand gaming
all in all, it worked out quite well for the taxpayer (i know ... does it ever?)
