The Dodgers don't even bat an eye at giving that much money to Kershaw, just to put him on the 60 day DL right away with no guarantee if/when he will pitch.
Teams like the Pirates, first off don't spend that money, but if they would, it couldn't be on this big of a gamble.

I'm sure there's a video out there but does anybody remember when the Pirates had runners on second and third. (Travis Snider and Gaby Sanchez) Chris Stewart drew a walk and those two promptly got picked off for an inning ending double play as Stuart was headed to first base.
