The old days of the KBL network that had the Penguin games. I will never forgot Mike Lange saying to the extent“test..test…test…I can’t hear fucking shit” while on air.

Anyone that remembers the old KBL network will know how awful it was.

Jim Rooker, on KBL if I remember right, was doing a Pirate game and a player could not get out of the way of a pitch and got hit.

“he was as helpless as a one legged man in a shit kicking contest”

In Rook’s defense he was probably drunk.

The way that slur rolled so naturally off his tongue makes it tough to believe that it was an accident :noidea:
:

did you edit this, cause I REALLY read that wrong if you didn't lol

yeah it was too smooth the way he said it. He has used that word before

also what bad timing for the other guy to heart tap when he said it.... yikes
I'm OK with him being fired. Mainly because while I'm sure he did not mean to say it on air, it seems like he said it before. And it was a bad slip. It can happen though.

One time I was talking to my boss, who was an older African American woman, about a harbor cruise party she was throwing for her husband. She said space on the cruise was filling up. I meant to say the line from Jaws "You're going to need a bigger boat" as a joke, but what came out was (and I still feel bad about this) was "you have the breasts of a 20 year old, how I'd like to see them on the high seas". Common slip of the tongue but a bad one.

I met Dani from HR the next day.

Yes, KBL was awful. The picture and audio would always go out and Mike Lange would blame it on the “cold cables” in the arena.

Theme with Pittsburgh broadcasters back then. Honestly I don’t know a time Rooker or Lange was sober. :D

In the late 80s, early 90s I used to hang out at Rook’s bar in Ambridge a lot.

There was a well-known pitcher for the Cubs that was snorting cocaine in the bathroom one night. I’m sure Rooker was into that too.

This guy still does ESPN baseball telecasts. Maybe they don’t drug test lol

I heard Mike Lange was at airport one time and instead of saying "I need two tickets to Pittsburgh, he blurted out I need two pickets to Titsburgh"

/May or may not be true

Geez what shitty conference championships we have so far in the NHL and NBA. Seriously wonder if that ever happened where all 4 matchups were sweeps?

Boston stays alive. Can Carolina and Dallas follow suit?

I had little faith tonight and turned it off in the 6th inning. Serves me right

Did he call everything a strike just to end the game?
I did not see that until this morning, that's what it looks like. People were upset at that. I'm completely in favor of computerized balls and strikes and think the strike zone should be consistent but I think getting upset at that is goofy.
