OT: Home Invasions in your State

Just outta curiosity, how often do you hear about home invasions in your state. Just driving in this morning I heard another story that took place Sunday night here in CT that was very similar to a horrible home invasion a few years ago that happened one town over from me.

The first one ended in r*pe and murder, was a horrible story, this one started off the same way, but they just left with valuables. Both were in very nice towns, but CT is so small and one of the wealthiest states that you can be on one block where there are mansions, and not even a quarter mile down the road you are in the projects... New Haven is an odd city.

Just curious how frequent these are elsewhere.

Home invasions are up, but lord help the idiot who comes into my place.

It then gravitated to home invasions targetting marijuana grow ops (grow rips) but that has kinda fallen off too as organized crime has gone corporate and decided that bigger is better and are now building massive covert "greenhouses" in the interior/rural areas of our province (outside of the integrated gang task force jurisdiction)

we are BC... we just grow massive amounts of weed and trade that shit for other drugs.
(mainly to California for coke)

but yeah, haven't heard about home invasions for about 5 years now.
well... there was that home invasion by the police about 2 years ago. It was the wrong address, and the guy didn't speak english, so they beat the shit out of him when he protested.

the high cost of fuel has meant their shipping and transport costs have skyrocketed. It's really killing their margins (as well as rival gangsters)

By locating their operations closer to their key trading partner (northern mexico) they are able to cut those costs.

I dunno, home invasions really don't seem like they are too bad here. I'll let you know more later, but I'm not sure when the folks who live here will be home and I'd rather not get caught after all that orange and black paint I threw on their walls. And furniture. And cat.

In the Pitt area it seems fairly rare. Hear about it occasionally. I don't watch the news religiously when I'm at home. In Anderson? I have no idea. It's a ghetto town honestly, but when I'm at school, I'm in my own little bubble when it comes to world events.

I do not hear about them too much but there was one near me a year or so ago. At the time it was thought it was someone who knew the couple because of the timing and what they grabbed. I do not remember if it was ever resolved.

Police responses to home invasions are necessarily slow. What worries me here in Pittsburgh more home invasions are turning dangerous. If you come in my house and steal my shit, whatever, I have insurance. Get in and get out quick. If you hang around long enough to be confronted or take one step up the stairs or toward anyone in my household (dogs included) you WILL die. I know my rights and I hope the home invader does as well.

I would have no problem shooting any mofo that breaks into my house... Shit even if they dropped the shit they grabbed because I had a gun pointed at them, I'd still shoot them in the leg, then smash their hands with a hammer before calling the police (or while they were on their way, whichever action came first). But if they posed a threat... Right for the head.

If it ever comes to a situation where I would be forced to shoot someone, and I pray to God that it never does, I am aiming for the head. If I have to shoot, I WILL shoot to kill. It is the only way.

As for personal defense, a word of advice...shotguns are your best bet. Having just awoken from a deep sleep, loaded with adrenaline and fear is notthe best time to have rely on pinpoint aim. Buckshot will do. The cleanup is a bitch but well worth the reliability.

Unless you are a cop or soldier, you are not equipped to pinpoint aim under these circumstances. Scatterguns FTW.

This brings up one thing I hate about our current judicial system...the dummy who was breaking into someones house, fell through a sunlight, hurt himself and SUED THE HOMEOWNERS.
