OT: Here we go again...

I was hoping the new year would bring better luck. Just saw Daryl last week and he was thrilled to see snow for the first time. He was born and raised in Miami. Now I get this E-mail.

I hope he is Okay, I called my niece and said she is doing fine but broke down so I may head off to Miami. Damn !! He is in his late 20's or early 30's and have a beautiful little daughter Caroline.

Hi all.

Just wanted to send the news along that Daryl was taken to the hospital from work after suffering a heart attack today. He was taken into surgery this morning and the blockage was cleared and a stent inserted. He is stable in ICU for now and should be released after about 5-6 days. Beth is home with Caroline and will hopefully be able to have Daryl's sister watch the baby so she can get up to the hospital to see him. As long as her favorite cousin is home from school we are hopeful this will work out for everyone!

I don't think so IPW and I didn't ask. I may head down there to be with him and my niece. I'm waiting for her to return my call.

I'm not a particularly religious person Boss, but I'll say a prayer for you and for Daryl. It sounds like everything is okay now, I really hope this won't be a recurring issue. No child should have to deal with losing a parent that young.

My family suffers from horrible heart disease, so I do know what that's like. My dad's dad died when he was 55 and his dad died when he was 37. Both of heart attacks. My dad starting having heart palpitations a few years back and his doctor decided to put him on other heart and blood pressure meds as well. He was about 50 or so when he started and the doctors said he had the arteries of an 85 year old. I was talking to his doctor just a few months ago and she said that he'd be dead by now if he never got on these meds. My dad just turned 56 and it was big for him, outliving his dad's age. Heart problems are very scary.

Hi there.

I contacted Beth today, who says that Daryl should be moving out of ICU today to a regular room. The doctors now think he is also diabetic, and wanted to try some insulin today, but he refused. Beth was going up to the hospital today to talk to him, after getting a call from his father. Hopefully he will try the medications they offer. I am sure at his young age he is not a happy camper being in the hospital at all for either of these conditions!

A side note: Peter will be moving into a house in Cheektowaga soon with his friend Tom. In contacting Peter today, I found out that Tom's mother passed away suddenly yesterday in Batavia. She was in a restaurant and started choking, and then stopped breathing. Peter drove him to Batavia through whiteout conditions to be with his mom. So far it seems that this New Year has lost it's luster quickly! Let's hope we won't hear any more bad news for awhile.

I hope all goes well Boss. I just found out that my Grandma has only a few more days until she passes. I am going to visit her to say goodbye tomorrow, but Doctors said she probably won't even know that I am there.
