NERD ALERT!

Yeah I went there. I'll leave the sexual innuendos to IPW, but who here likes the series?

If so...watch "A Very Potter Musical". Here's the link to the first part:

YouTube - A Very Potter Musical Act 1 Part 1

Hilarious. It's rather long...took me like a week to get through it, but it's totally worth it. The best part is the girl who plays Draco.

I somewhat like the series, I won't go see the movies at midnight, but I will, and I have read all the books

I see the movies at midnight, but they're just okay. They're nice companions to the books, but the books are amazing to me. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy in general, but J.K. Rowling's characters are awesome.

Do they still do that?...I remember the Rocky Horror thing in the 70's...it was different...

They actually do it for a decent amount of movies now. I think the last one I saw at midnight that wasn't Harry Potter was the Dark Knight.

And I love Rocky Horror!

I think I must the only person at this point who has never read a single word of JK Rowling, nor seen any of the movies.

I feel like an old fart (No offense, Boss), but the subject matter just doesn't grab my attention at all.

As a kid, loved the books. Then JK Rowling decided to become PC and announced Dumbledore was a homo. Suddenly it all became clear...Dumbledore's taking schoolboys out alone on midnight trips... Dumbledore's twinkling eyes whenever he sees Harry...Dumbledore using the "Penis Petrificus!" spell once too often...

OK, but more seriously, I thought that was a crappy thing for her to do. I like reading stories, but don't like being preached to. It killed quite a bit of my enthusiasm to be honest.

i'm a geek...a big geek. i'm the one who goes to all the midnight premieres and book releases. at first the content was never a huge interest for me, but JKR MAKES it interesting with her writing style. She's so captivating with her writing that it's hard not to enjoy the books. the movies...well, they always disappoint me, but i always get excited because ya know it's a way to keep the series going. i'm hoping that breaking it into two movies will increase the chances that they keep to the final book to a T. one can hope. i'm currently rereading deathly hallows

Are you a female? Serious question, I dont know. I have a theory that most of the fans of Rocky Horror (the movie itself, not the theatrics accompanying it in theaters) are women. This is based on a very scientific poll of about 6 friends whose wives all love it and not one of the guys (including me) like it.

I had no interest in Potter but my wife had to read it for work, liked it and twisted my arm into reading them. I found the first few likable, but not great. Like Harry Jk's books got more mature as they went along and she became a better writer. I think the series ended very strongly, everything after the snoozefest where Harry was stuck in his uncles house for hundreds of pages was very good.

The movies are fun, some better than others but I don't think any sucked. (or are great)

i think that such a thing is probably the best part of the series...the books matured as harry did. i suppose the reason i most liked that is that i basically followed the age with harry (off a little bit obviously, as it took more than a year between each release). overall though, the series was MUCH better at the end. it got so great at the end...i think my favorite thing is just how everything tied in at the end. there's such great foreshadowing in the beginning of the series that comes back at the very end. and, unlike the freaking twilight series, it's not ALL about romance or that mushy stuff, but there's enough sprinkled in that it's likeable. i'm a chick, so i was never happier than when ron and hermione finally got together. :P

I hate when people say this. People act like she threw a coming out party for him. A fan asked her if Dumbledore had ever been in love and she answered honestly. If you can do math, you could have figured out at least one of her characters was probably gay. She's always says that she has tons of information on every character that isn't necessary to the story, but she likes to know. Her interviews provide fans with a way to glimpse some of those details that can make reading the books an even richer experience.

And maybe you're kidding, but you sound like a redneck homophobe with equating ********* with gay.

And comeds, I am indeed female.

Yes, my first paragraph was total joshing. I added "OK, but more seriously" to avoid the confusion. Sex/pervert/gay jokes are abundant all over this forum; this was no different.

Anyway. No, I had no idea Dumbledore was a homosexual, and I doubt anyone else gleamed that from reading the books. Maybe I was/am just naive.

Also, picturing ol' Dumbledure smooching another dude didn't exactly enrich my experience of the books.

Never read the stuff. I read Tolkien as a kid but this slipped between my generation as a kid of age or as a parent. I have literally not read any of the books or seen any of the movies.

I would advise you don't go see the movies. If you have not read the books, you won't understand a thing that goes on in the fillms. They try to cram a 600-page book into a 2 hour movie, so the pace of the films is incredibly fast, and really hard to follow. Heck, I've read most of the books several times and I still had a hard time following the action. They are basically just companions to the books.
