I won a guitar strap in a football pool, which gave me a good excuse to take a nice picture of my Tokai.
Don't think I noticed before how well matched the top is. I love this fuckin' thing!

I really need to get some recording software. I would love for you guys to critique my shit.

My buddy just got Pro Tools 9. It's amazing how much you can do with that stuff. Went and laid down some drum tracks last week. He's adding the rest and mastering it now. I'm interested to see what it's gonna sound like.

Awesome; a guitar thread!

Since I'm new to this one, I'll just post my main gear:

Guitar: Washburn J9 hollowbody
Amps: Seymour Duncan 84-40 tube amp (Weber Blue Dog alnico speaker)
Fender Deluxe Reverb
Effects: Lexicon MX200 (pretty much only for reverb)
Recording: Sonar Home Studio 7

I also play chromatic harmonica and keyboards.

Fucking neighbor. He just scored a 1974 Gibson ES-335 - mint condition - for a paltry $1200 from some bozo on consignment. He let me play it for a couple of hours while he took his kid to soccer. Everything was perfect on it including the intonation at the 12th fret. FFS, how come I can't come across a holy grail type score for what basically amounts to peanuts!!

My favorite subject/topic/discussion in the world...just slightly ahead of hockey, of course.

That's a great guitar, Puck. What are you running it through?

thanks. I was awfully happy to find it.

my main amp is a Traynor YCV50 Blue.
just a beauty little 1x12 tube amp.

the dirty channel sounds awfully close to an old Proco Rat infront of it.

I have a family friend who scored a 64 Strat for $250 (this was back in the 70s mind you, from a guy that needed $250 to make bail!!). neither of his kids play guitar, so he's promised me that I will evenually get first crack at it. I have no idea what the terms might be.... but that fucker is a BEAUT!!

I haven't used Pro Tools 9. I've used Pro Tools once to record a demo at a studio in Victoria about 10 years ago, and, I've actually got a Pro Tools lite that came with my M-audio Fast Track USB soundcard.

I'm pretty much a Sonar guy as I've used Sonar/Cakewalk now since 1998. The VST is absolutely amazing in their recording software. I run Dimension Pro and Z3TA through Sonar HS7 and I pretty much have every keyboard, organ, piano, synthesizer patch I could ever need. The midi sound now is absolutely amazing these days with VST software; unlike what it was before 2003.

That's what I'm talking about. If you're going to spend the bucks on a nice axe, ya gotta dish some out on a nice amp like that or it's almost pointless to buy the great axe.

I almost went for that exact same amp, but opted for a long time dream of mine to own a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

I'm probably going to need to do a speaker swap though to get that classic 60's jazz tone.

I've been trying to talk Jeff into trying out a Traynor.
Their mid-to-top line amps are criminally under-priced.
(It's probably earlier in the thread)

those Deluxe Reverbs are classics

Im thinking about putting a Laney GH100L Head through an Orange cab. I really like the sound Laney puts out, and I heard a couple videos of people putting that head through an Orange cab, the tone is awesome. Really diverse, what I am looking for.

I was gonna go for possibly the Marshall JCM800 2033KK, but it has no cleans, all distortion, great for my metal which is primarily what I play. But I need some jazz/blues tone. Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth uses these heads, and he plays everything from Jazz to Death Metal. Happy I checked his rig out and finally put my mind to rest.

Total the cost of this set up is gonna run me about $1,700.00 - $2,000.00 depending on if I get the 120w cab or the 240w cab.
