My almamater is in the PIHL finals down at Consol today for single A, and my cousin is a coach for Peters in AA. YEAY HOCKEY! Wish I could've gone to see the games, ugh.

Don't know too much about their softball program, but the hockey team kicks ass!! After their only loss of the season, they followed it up with back to back 14-0 beat downs! A sincere good luck to your Talbots (how cute and coincidental) but my ties are to Mars...Sorry that pitcher tormented your team.

That's three straight for Mars! I'm not 100% sure what stipulations are involved as far as student enrollment and such, but I think Mars should be up one class level. A few years ago they went from AA to AAA in football...Not sure why they're not at least AA in hockey.

Nah, the numbers are right for hockey divisions I think. Hampton is AAA in football as well. Hockey only has so many teams, so it makes the numbers different, and looking at the teams in the AAA and AA, the schools are very comparable in size. Hampton is maybe a little smaller than Mars. Hampton always seems to be playing bigger schools though. I mean, my graduating class was just under 250.

I agree with what you're saying, but it seems like the Mars area is one of the few that are continuously growing. Adams/Seven Fields is waaaaaay more populated than even five years ago...And not to sound arrogant, but they beat the crap out of everybody in class A almost every year, some stiffer competition might be good for them.

It's true, even since I've graduated they've exploded. It used to just be farm kids. Is Adams/7 Fields still all Mars? I know it's close to Seneca Valley territory (talk about a monster district).

I think there's a split between Seven Fields/Adams kids. Some go to Mars and yes, some go to Seneca Valley. That is definitely a huge district!!

Anyway, I hope you're at least happy that all three of the Penguin Cup Champs won their respective state titles yesterday. Good to see hockey thriving here in western Pa!

I'm thrilled at the sweep. The sport is BLOOMING in the area. It's really great to see. A few years from now we'll be seeing groups of Pittsburgh kids coming up the ranks.

Yep. And Robert Morris is beginning to establish itself as a reputable hockey program as well...I think they had an off year this season, but all & all, it's growing and they're a competitive team!

Penn State getting a D1 program is big too. I hate 'em, but they have a big pull in the region. If they can establish a competitive environment it will be good. Pitt needs to get on that though. They only have a club team as it is. Not good enough, especially looking at the market.
