It was just a subject that I found compelling and interesting while talking to my son how men and women are treated differently at times. I read a few books and he gave me the link to this site that was interesting about the subject.

Mensactivism.org | Men's Rights News & Info It takes a while to go through but they supply the data and links to interesting statistics. Some surprised me.

I thought it was a nice gesture but after 5 years it has just gotten old. No reason to just concentrate on 1 "treatable" cancer every year.

Thats what I like about hockey. They take on "Hockey fights cancer" and spread the money towards general cancer research.

Wonder why we never hear about AIDS anymore. It was pretty big for a while there.
Pretty sure we didnt cure it, right?
They must have trded their P.R. guy to the breast people for a fundraiser to be named later.
Pretty lopsided trade if you ask me.

The NFL could've been wearing rainbow socks and gloves if the AIDS folks had been paying attention.

Looks like I should have put this in the political thread. Oh well. Like I said it's very personal and I would bet that any person here that was diagnosed with cancer will take it a fuck of a lot more seriously.

So say we all.

It's an awful lot trickier than just ending it, though. I've done a month or so of cancer research, and that got nowhere, but it was also only a month.

Cancer is tricky because it's a mutation of our own cells. There's no foreign body to kill. We have to kill part of our own body to kill it, and as a consequence, it's really difficult to target cancer cells specifically.

It's also really hard to prevent since it grows inside of us. We can't vaccinate ourselves against our own cells. So we try to find things that cause these mutations. But it's hard to figure out what does because we're all exposed to all of this stuff all the time. How can you control that? For all we really know, it's just something that happens.

It's just an awfully tricky disease.

Honestly, I'm not sure why they discriminate between various forms of cancer in the 1st place when it comes to this type of thing.

Amen to that. My mom, Uncle, Co-worker, cousin, Grandfather and grandmother (on the other side) all died of different "kinds". To me... It's just one Damned disease that took them all.

This summer, I took my diabetic, bad knees and ankles having, 40 pounds overweight ass and rode a bicycle 160 miles and raised 5,000 for Cancer research. And being on a road that much I though about the different drives for curing each type. And I really just wondered how much the Prostate Cancer researchers are sharing findings with the Melanoma researchers, etc. It doesn't make much sense to me, but then again I do not understand the disease really. I just live in fear and hatred of it.

I see your point, boss. It really wouldn't take much of an effort to show a little support.

Most of the women in the WNBA don't have a man to care about. Most men in sports do.

This guy

Which is why this breast cancer talk gets old. It sucks, but I feel like this "wear pink for a month" fad has just taken on a different meaning. Again, this is why Hockey fights cancer has it right compared to something like the NFL wear they force players to wear pink everything

Boss is right! This is an opportunity to call out those golf, tennis, and... well, golf and tennis players that could do more to support the cause.

I'm looking at you Ashley Harkleroad...

What color scheme would they use for prostate cancer awareness?
