Nothing beats being there at the park but for those who can't make it to the game, what is the most enjoyable way to listen to Jon Miller, Fleming, Kruk and Kuip for you?

The thought occurred to me as I started getting into fishing again. Some friends introduced bass fishing to me earlier this year and I've been hooked ever since. (any other anglers on board?)

Having a beer, fishing a bank, and having the game in my ear was one of the most enjoyable weekends I've had in awhile.

Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled program.

I think I'd like your way better, lol, but here's mine:

Listening via the radio like you, but sitting outside in the sun, BBQ'ing, having an Anchor Steam (or 6 ;)) and throwing the tennis ball around in the yard for my dogs.

I enjoy listening in the car while billing for my time on a trip to the east bay. Who knew?

Prior to last night, I like to work in the garage with the game on.

Insert joke about the discussion between St. Peter and the attorney here.

Old school - Hodges and Simmons (and yes I am old enough to remember when all television stations signed off and then when the rogue channel 11 out of San Jose (?) played movies until dawn).

In my humble and aged opinion, they had radio voices whle today's broadcasters have television voices. I can't put my finger on it, and maybe it is just me (time passing causing me to fondly remember the way I dreamed it was as opposed to the way it really was), but I don't feel the same involvement in the game listening on the radio today as I did 40+ years ago. I don't know how many times I have tuned into the game mid-inning and waited for an eternity to hear the score or how many outs there are or if there are runners on base (really true when Miller is on the radio).

But in today's reality, I prefer Miller, Fleming, Kruk and Kuip over any other team that I have heard.

Luckily, I usually get to watch the games now, which I prefer, but some of my favorite memories as a kid were spent staying up past my bedtime with headphones plugged into my Giants' baseball-shaped radio (brought to you by Coca-Cola), listening to Hank Greenwald paint the picture of a San Francisco victory.

Reply with punch line from A Serious Man:

Rabbi Nachter: The Goy? Who Cares!

St. Peter can certainly be replaced by whoever guards the gates of heaven, as dictated by the Torah. I'm sure you've heard the joke, but suffice it to say, St. Peter is impressed to have someone in heaven that had lived so long. The attorney is confused because he died at 80, and doesn't think that is especially impressive. Peter incredulously exclaims, "According to your billable hours, you couldn't possibly be a day younger than 1,256!"
