Yeah, it's pretty tough to shock me and make me speechless.

But when I saw that I just sat there dumbfounded for a minute.

Yea watching my local news, West Texas is a ways south of me but i havent heard any anouncement of how many dead or anything else. But the views of all the firetrucks and ambulances you would of think the president died or something.

Reports that up to 70 had died in #West was “a guess” - officers #WestExplosion

I am surprised CNN didn't cite a source that 200 had died.

Not that I'm glad this sort of thing happened at all, but I am glad that if it had to happen, it was yesterday instead of tomorrow.

Imagine the conspiracy theory nutjobs that would show up if there was a massive explosion near Waco (about 20 miles outside) on the 20th anniversary of the raid on the Branch Davidian compound.

That explosion was massive. It's almost a miracle anyone survived.

A fertilizer factory is a really bad place for a fire. Lots of explosive compounds. It looks like all of them went at once.

how about the city planners of this town ...

behind the factory ... elementary and high schools
across the other road ... dense residential area

Costanza could have done better

Oh, it's too late. I've already seen people saying the guy who filmed the explosion and almost got blowed up is a Navy Seal and he started it.

It is very odd that anything said at the scene suddenly becomes public record. I can't wait for the next event to have it reported that "sources say the explosions was caused by chickens" because someone remarks they were in the drive thru at Popeye's when it happened.

It's weird to me because I had it beaten into my head that the first rule of Incident Response is "SHUT UP". Seriously, I could get an official reprimand for even saying "no comment". Who are these blabber mouths? At least I know why they beat that into my head, I guess.

So my snark should have included "caused by bacon" and "At Sonic"?

I was so close.

Watching the news now and the aerial video of the place is just horrifying.
