I really wish people would stop insulting Nickelback already. I mean when they do, it hurts Chad Kroger's feelings, which makes him emotional, which makes him want to write songs and a new Nickelback album.

It's a vicious cycle.

actually ... it drives him to drink ... and then drive

Bands that change their sound, on the same album, are true musicians.

Dude, you love heavy metal, which might have the most consistent "same" sound of any genre. Not sure how you can say that. Most genres have certain rules, most bands rely on something to their "sound" that is reliable/predictable. U2 had a VERY similar sound for a long time and they've done pretty well. It's not a horrible thing for a band to build a "sound" that people identify with them. It leads to success. Does it make great art? That's another debate.

I don't listen to generic metal though. My favorite band is Faith No More. Mike Patton is a genius. Every song sounds different. As far as metal goes, yes, a lot of thrash metal sounds the same. However I mostly listen to prog rock/metal.

Agreed, but I'm speaking from a musical standpoint. Nickelback plays all power chords, with the weakest solos ever. Joe Perry played some pretty mean leads in his day. And yes, post-"Armageddon" they truly are garbage. Steven Tyler can't perform without breaking a bone or a tooth now.

Yeah, I know you have a wide palate. I'm just saying a lot of bands make music that sounds the same. It's sometimes very successful, especially when they don't sound like everyone else. To a certain extent, your lead singer usually makes it hard to sound far different than previous works, though some bands do it. And a group like Dave Matthews Band is pretty inventive, but they are going to sound "the same" b/c there aren't many bands that use a violin and a sax in their lineup. I just don't think it's always a horrible thing unless you are making horrible music, which I fully understand if some people put Nickelback in that category. God damn Canadians - stick to hockey! ;)

His persona is pretty insane. He seems totally gay, but he's a huge ladies man. He's one person I'd love to sit down and have a real convo with for an hour.
