Same here, not that I truly care all that much about either/or. I just really want to see Toney lambaste Couture. Each sport is great, don't get me wrong, I just grew up watching and boxing myself, and just feel that more goes into a boxing match than a UFC match.

People need to see MMA for what it is (extremely giften, usually respectful athletes engaging in a chess match of combat techniques with occasional knockouts and a bit of blood), instead of the fantasy (deranged toughman no-holds-barred human cockfighting bloodfests).

its all about the visual with the society at large and seeing the blood that is spilled during an MMA has more of a negative immediate impact than seeing retired boxers in their 60's unable to keep a steady hand

really? I dont know ... both are past their prime but Toney doesnt really even have very good elementary skills in other disciplines.

Couture hasnt lasted that long in MMA because he was stupid and he knows he wont be able to stand toe to toe with Toney. I think if he takes toney to the ground he'll just wear him down

ok so let me get this straight ... lineman knocking head/helmets in 2 a day workouts for close to a month before the regular season opener is the same as non-contact sparring in mma that happens in a month leading up to a fight?

i was referring more to the actual fights in comparison to a game. don't think i agree that the sport should be banned in general, that's just ridiculous, i'm just saying i understand why a group of doctors that see their injuries daily would support such a move.

dacks, i'm not a fan of boxing either. as a sport, it's okay (both are...though i hold harsh feelings for fracking UFC fights because they turned off Game 6 of the Pens/Sens series last spring on every TV at Buffalo Wild Wings to show the PREGAME for a fight...), but as someone studying to be in the Sports Medicine profession, I wouldn't touch it with a 20 foot pole. concussions happen in most every sport, and I realize that I WILL have to deal with them many times throughout my career...however, I know that the chances of encountering them greatly increase in fighting type sports. it just happens. that's more the point i was trying to get across.
