The Montreal Alouettes have been directed by the CFL to release quarterback Johnny Manziel after it was found that he contravened the agreement which made him eligible to play in the league.

“We are disappointed by this turn of events. Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement,” general manager Kavis Reed said in a statement. “We worked with the league and presented alternatives to Johnny, who was unwilling to proceed.”

I'm going to change my tone from the NFL forum.

I hope that this is rock bottom for this kid. He has a huge problem with drugs and alcohol addiction.

I just hope that he seeks help but I doubt it

I just saw on the ticker at the bottom of my tv screen that Travis Lulay has retired. Great QB whose career was de-railed by injuries.. He was a class act and will be missed. Enjoy retirement Travis!

I'm okay with this, Huf has a knack for finding diamonds in the rough and there's a chance that Singleton doesn't stick in the NFL and returns to the Stamps.

Gary Bettman should take note, it is indeed possible to reach an agreement without a work stoppage or strike.
